MSMR News!

After relentlessly touring in support of their 2013 break-through debut album  Secondhand Rapture  the Brooklyn based duo, MSMR is ready to release their sophomore album this summer!

How Does It Feel drops Friday July 17th and by the looks of the cover art, the always colorful Lizzy ("MS") and  hipster-chic Max ("MR") still have that flirty yet mysterious flare that locked in their monumentous fanbase  in the first place. The first single "Painted" is getting some love on the air-waves and the dancey, dark, modern-disco diddy already has a music video out!  It's a little retro with it's sudeo "Solent Green" theme but overall it's very original in a MSMR way: popping with vibrant colors, bursts of fierce dance moves and an Avant Garde appeal.

And the dance party doesn't stop there!
Earlier this month MSMR also announced their North American/European Headline Tour this fall! The band is donating portion of all ticket sales to the Third Wave Fund which is a grassroots fund that supports feminist, queer and trans-rights organizations.
MSMR has been hard at work on these new tunes, so mark your calendars to party hard when they roll through!

Ciara @ The Regency Ballroom 5/31/2015

Dancing the night away at the Ciara show Sunday night at The Regency Ballroom was a fun way to say sayonara to the month of May!! Popular Bay Area radio personality Chewy Gomez hyped up the crowd before bringing the singing, dancing sensation, Ciara out. The room erupted with wild cheers in anticipation of Ciara's arrival as three back up singers took their place stage left and two dancers perused the stage. The audience instantly became a sea of cell phones as hands were raised to capture videos and photos of the star's performance when she hit the stage.

For having such a sizzling hot bod, I was surprised by how covered up she was. In a flowing over-sized komono style top and an MC Hammer-esque wrap around skirt/pant combo, Ciara even donned a pair of dark Aviators but the shades were the first to go as she shed garments throughout the show. Sunday night was the last show of the Jackie Tour, the new mom's first tour in six years promoting the Jackie album, her first release in six years. Singing songs from across her catalog, including hit singles featuring other artists who were not on tour with her yielded loud, positive reactions from fans. For some reason I picked up a Micheal Jackson vibe from Ciara's stage presence: maybe it was the way she shimmied her shoulders and grabbed her crotch the way the King of Pop use to do. Maybe it was her soft spoken banter, or the continuous dynamic choreographed dancing.

Whatever it was, my intuition proved to be right when the band qued up Billie Jean, she popped on a hat and seemed to walk on air as she busted some signature MJ moves including his famous moon walk! Ciara basked in the out pour of praise from her lively SF fans, at times looking amazed by it, as she paused throughout the show to say sincere thank yous. With all the dancing going on, Ciara's voice sounded good and steady with solid singing. I didn't think twice about it until a couple different people asked me the next day if Ciara sang or if the show was voice tracked. To be honest I still don't know to this day  if she was lip-syncing or singing. What I do know is that Ciara does put on one helluva of show!
