I'd been waiting patiently since last Summer when my order was switched with my friends' order and he ended up getting to indulge. And then, last month, it happened...SusieCakes announced the arrival of their infamous Blueberry Pancake Breakfast Cupcake.

This illusive cupcake flavor is only available July 1st - August 4th. So, I gingerly walked to the closet SusieCakes on Chestnut Street a few blocks away from my apartment one faithful day.
The tiny storefront bakery was busy for a weekday afternoon.
But I knew what I wanted, three Blueberry Pancake Breakfast Cupcakes to-go
(one for me, one for my roommate and one for our friend's birthday).

It was love at first bite for both of us.
My taste buds sang and it did taste like pancakes. It even smelled like pancakes as I ate it. That aroma from childhood when you wake up on the weekend and know you're having pancakes for breakfast before you even leave bed.
SusieCakes is always fresh and this cake seemed a little fluffier than others and buttery of course (like breakfast pancakes). The inside was filled with fresh, whole, juicy blueberries!
I couldn't get over how many blueberries there were. The creamy buttercream frosting wasn't too rich and it was just sweet enough, a perfect syrup alternative (I think syrup might have been baked into the cake. I'm not certain but I could swear I tasted syrup).
There's breakfast for dinner and now there's breakfast for desert thanks to SusieCakes. The Blueberry Pancake Breakfast Cupcake is a mouthful of a name and a scrumptious one at that. Blueberry Season typically ends in September so it makes sense why this flavor is a special seasonal flavor at SusieCakes. There will be a new seasonal flavor after August 4th.
