Ashe with Louis the Child at The Fox Theater in Oakland next week

24 year old, indie-pop ingenue Ashlyn Willson, A.K.A Ashe hasn't released her own album yet but she does already have two hits with Louis the Child. "World on Fire" and "Right To It" are catchy in their own regard and her vocals intoxicate on both.
The popular electronica vocalist has been a favored featured artist this year but recently released two of her own singles, "Used To It" and "Girl Who Cried Wolf" (Mom+Pop) each of which are getting millions of spins on Spotify.

Ashe is currently on the road, supporting  Louis the Child on a West Coast tour through Fall and she's touring all over the US with Lauv in 2018.
The Northern California native beauty took time out of her busy schedule to answer a couple questions about her rising fame.

Q: Who are your biggest music inspirations?
A: Carole King, Stevie Knicks and Ella Fitzgerald.

Q: What was it like touring with EDM-Pop phenomena, The Chainsmokers?
A: They're wonderful, down to earth, sweethearts - it was completely lovely and fully hectic.

Q: How do you prepare for the extensive tour you're currently on?
A: SLEEP, haha. For real though. I'm getting a lot of rest during my down time and writing a lot by myself (which is sooooooooo amazing - I missed writing alone).

Q: I love that your sound jumps from loungey on "World On Fire" to islandy on "Right To It" of which you worked with Louis the Child on both. Did that happen naturally or did you all plan on that?
A: You know, I'd like to say we were super intentional about the sound, but really we were just making music that we were in the mood to make those different days. You kinda have to just go with your gut day by day. "World On Fire", I wrote when I was feeling really cynical and upset about our social and global climate. "Right To It", we wrote with a lot of coffee in hand and a kick-ass steal pan beat from from Freddy (half of Louis the Child).

Q: As a graduate in composition and production from world renowned, Berklee College of Music, you've rightfully gained international exposure as a songwriter and jazz vocalist. You've played Coachella, been on an Arena tour with The Chainsmokers and are currently on touring with "underground" indie-Dj favorite, Louis the Child. How would you classify your own music?
A: I try not to classify my music - but it's some sort of combination of weird and accessible. It definitely lives in an alt-indie but I try to be pop forward thinking.

Q: What's your favorite album of 2017?
A: Crtl by SZA...she's...absolutely incredible.

Ashe has definitely earned her spot in VEVO dscvr: Artists to Watch Series and we couldn't be more excited for her!

Bay Area show-goers have three chances to catch her soon: with Louis the Child next weekend in Oakland at The Fox Theater on December 9th, at The Independent in SF with Lauv on January 23rd and again in SF at Rickshaw Stop on January 24th.
